We build on Ruby/Rails. We believe in talking to our customers, fast development cycles, clean architecture, test driven code, fast specs, hypermedia APIs, service oriented architecture, contributing to open source, and daily production pushes. 

About you

You are an engineer with experience with shipping production applications and can geek out with the best of them.  You care as much about shipping product and delivering customer value as the cleanliness of our code. You care about the full stack, from performance optimization to architecture to user experience.

This is a local position in Chicago, please no remote workers or recruiters.

Key Responsibilitites

  • Building the Reverb core Rails app and refactoring existing code to higher quality standards
  • Developing public facing and internal JSON APIs
  • Working with Postgres, Redis, Ruby 1.9 and 2.0, Rails 3.2 (eventually 4.0), and a host of open source services and gems.
  • Participating in pairing sessions, code reviews, and researching things independently.
  • Figuring out patterns for large Ruby-based systems.


  • Deep understanding of Ruby on and off Rails, and general software best practices 
  • Self motivated and self directing. A passion for shipping and fixing things that are broken.
  • Experience with test driven development and a desire to push everyone to do better.
  • Great communication skills. 
  • HTML/CSS & Javascript

Bonus Qualifications

  • Musical skills and passion (hobbyist/amateur/have shipped a record/anything goes)
  • Participating in open source projects or local user groups.
  • Blogging skills.
  • Experience with mobile platforms (iOS).
